Phil Herro enters his seventh year on the sidelines for the RVCC Women’s Basketball Team. Herro has overseen the transition of RVCC’s team from a club sport to a perennially competitive varsity squad. The team has consistently had at least three team members on the Region XIX All-Academic team each season for maintaining over a 3.25 GPA. The 2017-18 Team had 7 of its 12 players selected to the All-Academic Team. The team has a graduation rate of over 70%, nearly triple the average for community college students. The 2019 Class graduated all 6 sophomores, 2 of which earned NJCAA All-Academic Honors. On the Hardwood the team has also seen some great individual success. Megan Mack was named Second Team All-Region and First-Team All-GSAC in the 2016-17 Season. Ashley Hunt and Olivia Nilsen were both named First-Team All-GSAC for the 2017-18 season. Hunt was recognized as a First-Team All All-Region Player and Nilsen a Third-Team All-Region player in that same season. Following the season Nilsen was voted as an NJCAA WBCA All-Star for her performance during the year. Nilsen followed up her freshman season with another vote to Third-Team All-Region while Freshman, Precious Allah, was named a Second-Team All-Region performer. Nilsen was the first women's player to score over 1,000 career points in her career as she finished with 1,008.
