North Branch, NJ - The women's basketball team improved to 9-5 on the season with an 86-40 win over Orange County Community College on Tuesday night. Every single player to enter the game recorded at least 2 points with five players reaching double figures. The Lions were led by Freshman guard, Sophia Larsen, who had 18. This is Larsen's 12th game with over double digit points. Ona Riopedre was right behind Larsen with 17 points and a team high 6 assists. Judith Vila and Elizabeth May rounded out the starters who finished with double digit scoring nights as they had 11 and 10 points respectively. Off the bench for the Lions, Saionni Patrick, finished with her second double double in just the last three games as she scored 10 points and gobbled up 10 rebounds. Paula Aguilera Ortega had her most productive offensive performance to date with a season high 9 points.
The Lions return to action on Thursday the 19th as they host the number one team in Region XIX, Union College, at 5 PM. The last time the team's faced each other, the Lions upset the #8 nationally ranked Owls, by a final score of 75-66.
