Gil and Noin Lead Charge In Win At Lackawanna

Scranton, PA - RVCC came into Lackawanna 0-8 in their previous eight trips to Scranton. On Tuesday night, they would finally get that elusive win in a very decisive fashion. The team raced out to a 25-15 lead after the first quarter and were up by 17 at half. To start the third quarter the Falcons were able to score, but every time they did RVCC matched them to maintain that 17 point lead. The defensive pressure of Raritan turned into transition buckets that the Falcons seemed too tired to try and stop. The Lions won by a final score of 87-62 and improved to 7-0 on the season.

The team was led by Freshman Vega Gil and Sophomore Lucia Noin, who both posted double doubles. Noin, who now has four double doubles on the year, finished with a team high 30 points and 11 rebounds. Gil, who registered her first double double, finished right behind with 29 points and a season high 11 assists. Gil was just 3 rebounds shy of a triple double. Julia Fontanillo continued to do it all for the Lions and filled up the stat sheet with 8 points, 5 steals, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. The other Lion to finish in double figures scoring was Freya Rauschenfels who notched a season high 11 points on 5-8 shooting to go along with 6 boards. Quanajah Felder and Kerine Thomas chipped in offensively with 7 and 2 points respectively.

RVCC will travel to Sullivan County College on Thursday for a 5 PM tip off when they face the host Generals.
