Lions Top Falcons and Bulldogs

North Branch, NJ – RVCC's Women's Volleyball Team hosted another Tri-Match on Saturday 9/23. This time the Lions hosted the Falcons from Lackawanna College at 11 AM and the Bulldogs from Bergen Community College at 3 PM. The Lions would walk away 2-0 on the day to move to 14-2 on the season.

In the first game the Lions were tested early. Down 23-22 Reagan Mooney took a pass from Sona Petrusova and placed a ball perfectly for Kelly Delaney to the left pin. Delaney used Lackawanna's block to help put the ball on the floor to tie the game at 23 apiece. The Lions would win the next point only to lose the following two, finding themselves down 24-25. On the Falcons' ensuing offensive possession, Madison Cobb and Skylee Ohler timed the hit perfectly and both got a block assist to the game back at 25. With the set on the line for the second time the Lions struggled with their serve receive. Rachel Hatto helped a ball from Kelley Delaney, but placed the ball near the Lions' baseline. Freshman Danna Gaitan tracked the ball quickly and put over a tough free ball that the Falcons were unable to kill. With the score tied at 26, Madison Cobb stepped to the service line and recorded the two most important, of her team high eight, service aces. After the Lions took the dramatic first set 28-26, they beat the Falcons 25-17 and 25-16 in the next two sets. Delaney registered her third double double with 12 kills and 21 digs.
