Delaney and Cobb Lead Lions Past Runners

Sewell, NJ – The Lions traveled down to RCSJ-Gloucester to take on the Roadrunners on Wednesday night. The Lions would come out on top, 3-0 to improved to 4-2 on the season.

The Lions started the first two sets up 9-1 before finishing the Runners off 25-7, 25-10 respectively. The game was tied, 2-2 in the final set before Sophomore Kelly Delaney stepped up to the service line. During that time span Delaney had 6 of her season high 14 aces on the night. When she was finished serving the Lions had put the game out of reach at 19-3.

The team was very efficient on the night with a hitting percentage of .429 while registering only 7 errors. Freshman, Madison Cobb, led the offensive attack with 9 kills while fellow Freshman, Danna Gaitan, finished with 7 kills. Delaney led the team with 9 digs defensively and Rachel Hatto finished right behind her with 8.

The Lions game on Thursday night against PSU-Lehigh Valley has been postponed until October 5th because of the heat. The Lions will resume action on 9/9 at 12 as they travel to Passaic County.
