RVCC Beats Brookdale in Straight Sets

Branchburg, NJ - The RVCC Women's Volleyball Team beat the Jersey Blues of Brookdale Community College this Saturday 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-22). This is RVCC's second win over the Region XIX and Garden State Athletic Conference opponent this season.

The first set saw a lot of back and forth with RVCC only up 7-6 when there was a stoppage in play, due to a substitution error. After the long break, Sophomore Chandra Ramlogan gave the Lions the separation they were looking for pushing the lead to 14-6 behind her serve. Ramlogan had 6 service aces on the night to go along with 8 digs. The second set was much of the same for RVCC as their setter, Tess Rogovin, reeled off 4 of her team high 9 aces in the frame. The Lions didn't play particularly well in the third set, but still managed to hold of a scrappy Brookdale squad 25-22 to sweep the Jersey Blues for the second time this season.

Offensively, the Lions were led by their Middle Hitters, Danielle Burnejko and Bryahna Shaw. Burnejko had 6 kills and Shaw contributed 5 of her own. The two middles were also big on the defensive end for the Lions as Burnejko had 2 blocks and Shaw had 1. Freshmen Outside Hitters, Anais Duarte and Rosie Perna, added 4 kills a piece to put the Lions kill total at 21 compared to Brookdale's 9. It was an all around effort on the defensive side of the ball as 9 out of the Lions 10 players recorded at least 1 dig. Tess Rogovin finished with 15 assists, once again pacing the Lion's offense.

The Lions travel to Bucks County Community College on Monday October 1st for a 7 PM game time.
