Lions Win in Three, Sweep Season Series' Over Passaic and Middlesex

Edison, NJ - The RVCC Women's Volleyball team is 2-0 on the week after Tuesday night's victory over Passaic and last night's win over Middlesex County College. The Lions disposed of both teams in straight sets for the second time this season.

The Lions defeated Passaic County Community College 25-11, 25-9, and 25-17 on Tuesday night at home. Bryahna Shaw led the way for the Lion's offense as she tallied a team high 7 kills on the night. Freshmen, Tess Rogovin and Rosie Perna, each had 6 service aces. Rogovin also finished the night with 13 assists.

Thursday night the Lions took the short trip down 287 to take on Middlesex County College. The Lions came out of the gates roaring as they took the first two sets by scores of 25-6 and 25-5. However, the final set proved more eventful. With RVCC up 21-10 in the third, the scorers' table informed the official there had been a rotation error by the Lions. After some debate the Lions were faced with their first deficit of the game at 10-9. Middlesex reeled off 4 straight points to take a 14-9 lead, but the Lions kept clawing back. Through the bad breaks and adversity the Lions were still able to pull off the game, and series, sweep taking the final frame 25-22. Bryahna Shaw had 12 kills on the night and Stephanie Seymour contributed 5 of her own. The Lions picked up 23 points on Service Aces alone. Chandra Ramlogan and Tess Rogovin each had 6, Danielle Burnejko had 4, Anais Duarte had 3 and Giuliana Garcia and Rosie Perna each had 2 of their own.

RVCC looks to continue their hot streak as they host Brookdale Community College Saturday, September 29th at 12 PM. The Lions are currently 13-2 on the season.
