Volleyball Sweeps Regular Season Against Ocean!

North Branch, NJ - On Tuesday, September 18th the RVCC Lions Volleyball team defeated Ocean County College by a final score of 3-2. The Lions came out strong taking the first two sets from the visiting Vikings only to drop the next two and head into their first 5 set match of the season. The Lions came out firing in the final set winning the first 4 points and had an 8-4 advantage when the teams switched sides. The Lions never looked back from there as they were up 14-8 at one point and finished the final set 15-11. The win gave RVCC a regular season sweep over their GSAC foe for the first time in over five years. With the win the Lions improved to 9-1 on the season.

In a game that saw a lot of long rallies, defense was definitely key. Freshman Libero, Andrea Chavez, collected a team high 21 digs on the night. Fellow Freshman, Anais Duarte, was huge defensively as well as she collected 13 digs to go along with her team high, 6 service aces. Freshman Bryahna Shaw and Sophomore Stephanie Seymour each had one block to help the Lions' defense as well. Sophomore, Chandra Ramlogan, had another solid all around performance as she finished the night with 6 digs, 3 service aces, and 10 kills. The Lions' offense was paced again by their two Middle Blockers, Sophomore Danielle Burnejko and Freshman Bryahna Shaw. Burnejko garnered up 7 kills and Shaw had a team high 14 in the victory. The offense was supported by Freshman Setter, Tess Rogovin, once again. Rogovin dished out 30 assists on the night, marking the second time this season she's had at least 30 assists, both coming at the expense of Ocean County.

The Lions don't have much time to enjoy the victory as they are back in action Wednesday night at Harcum College. The match against the Divison II opponent is scheduled for 7 PM.
