Lions Outlast RCGC!

Sewell, NJ - The RVCC Women's Volleyball team traveled down to Rowan College at Gloucester County and captured their fourth win in as many nights on Thursday, September 14th. The win now puts the Lions at 7-1 on the season. The Lions have rattled off seven straight since their season opening loss to Northampton. 

The win didn't come easy for the Lions as RCGC stole the momentum in the middle of the second set as the Lions seemed stunned. Tied at 10-10 in the second frame, RCGC scored the next 15 points in a row to tie the game at 1 set apiece. With the crowd excited, the home team charged up, and the Lions with their backs against the wall, the RVCC team proved once again how resilient they can be. RVCC started the third set like they ended the second, but battled all the way back to take an 18-12 lead and force an RCGC timeout. From their the Lions never looked back as they went on the win the third set 25-17. The fourth set was hectic again in the beginning, but RVCC proved to be too much for the Roadrunners of RCGC when it got to crunch time. With RCGC making a comeback, RVCC called timeout at 20-18 and won 5 of the next 6 points to win the fourth set 25-19. 

Chandra Ramlogan, led the way for the Lions offensively with 11 kills. The Sophomore from Voorhees High School also played great defensively racking up a double double with 12 digs as well. The Lions' service game was great all night as six different players registered at least one ace. Freshmen Andrea Chavez and Rosie Perna, led the serving onslaught with 6 and 5 aces respectively. Perna was also a key contributor offensively as she added 5 kills. Both MB for the Lions, Freshman Bryahna Shaw and Sophomore Danielle Burnejko, also registered 5 kills on the night. Pacing the offense for the Lions, Tess Rogovin had 20 assists on the night. Of the 8 games the Lions have played this year, Rogovin has notched at least 20 assists 5 times, with a career high 37 at Ocean County College. 

The Lions travel to Brookdale Community College on Saturday the 15th to try and win their 8th in a row and remain undefeated in Garden State Athletic Conference play. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 PM.
