Volleyball Wins 6 Straight!

Branchburg, NJ – The RVCC Women's Volleyball Team won their sixth game in a row with a dominating victory of Community College of Philadelphia on Wednesday night. The Lions roared out of the gate to take the first set 25-4, won the second 25-10, and finished off CCP with a final set of 25-8. The win makes the Lions a perfect 3-0 on the week.

The Lions started the week off great with a 3-0 victory over the Fashion Institute of Technology on Monday night. The Lions showed their resiliency and toughness as they were down big in all three frames and found a way to come out with the victory in straight sets. Down 14-7 and 20-15 in the first the Lions clawed back to knot the score up 20-20. From there Freshman setter Tess Rogovin took the Lions home with 5 straight service points. The second set was much of the same for the Lions as they came out to a slow start, but managed to tie the score up again at 20-20. This time it was Freshman OH/DS Anais Duarte that secured the set for the Lions as they pushed ahead for five straight points behind her serving. The final set was even more thrilling than the first two as the Lions finished off FIT 27-25 after being down 22-18. First Team All-Region nominee from a year ago, Chandra Ramlogan, led the way for the Lions offensively with 8 kills. Freshman, Bryahna Shaw, contributed 8 kills of her own, a few of which were so ferocious it brought the crowd to their feet. Defensively the Lions were paced by freshman Andrea Chavez who had 21 digs on the night. Controlling the pace of the game for the Lions as usual was setter Tess Rogovin with 21 assists. The meeting between the Lions and the Region 15 foe was their first in over five years.

Less than twenty four hours later the Lions hosted Region XIX adversary Bergen County College. Showing some signs of exhaustion from the night before the Lions appeared to be sleeping through the entire first frame dropping the set 25-13. After their cat nap in the first set the Lions woke up and just got better as the night progressed winning three in a row 25-20, 25-17, 25-14. Bryahna Shaw led the way for the Lions on the offensive end with 10 kills. Sophomore's Stephanie Seymour and Danielle Burnejko played great on the night as well finishing with 7 and 6 kills respectively. Setter, Tess Rogovin, notched her season high with 26 assists on the night. 

The Lions will look to make it seven in a row, and four victories in four nights, when they head down to RCGC this Thursday for a 7 PM game. The Lions' next home game is Tuesday the 18th when they take on Ocean County College at 7 PM.
