Red Bank, NJ--The RVCC women's volleyball defeated CCBC Essex Saturday in the tri match at Brookdale Community College in five sets by scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 12-25, and 15-13.
The Lions got off to a rocky tough start losing their first set 19-25 but came back and won the next two both by a close margin. In the fifth set Essex jumped out to a 8-2 lead, however, the Lions mounted a massive comeback to claim the outstanding victory and improve to 8-0.
Leading the way for the Lions was freshman outside hitter Chandra Ramlogan with 15 kills and 20 digs, and middle hitter Mekayla Dela Cruz with 14 kills. Sophomore setter Ashley Hunt ran the offense efficiently with 36 assists, and sophomore libero Hannah Eisenstein was strong on the defensive end as she concluded with 27 digs.
Next up for RVCC is a home game against Ocean County College on Tuesday, September 19th at 7pm.
