Lions Top Bucks in Season Opener

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC women's volleyball team defeated Bucks County Community College in the 2017-18 season opener this past Thursday in four sets. The first set was tied 22-22, however Bucks was able to notch the last three points to take it 25-22. However, the Lions battled back and took the next three sets to seal the victory. Set two they won 25-18, set three 25-22, and set four had a final score of 25-18.

Leading the way was sophomore outside hitter Mekayla Dela Cruz. She was an offensive force, as she tallied 18 kills on 24 attempts, and seven service aces. Freshman outside hitter Chandra Ramlogan was also strong on the attack as she finished with 13 kills and seven service aces. Holding down the defense was sophomore hitter Hannah Eisenstein as she totaled an impressive 37 digs. Ramlogan also contributed on defense with 18 digs. Sophomore setter Ashley Hunt ran the offense as she finished with 36 assists. 

With the win the Lions are 1-0, and next up is an away game at Passaic County Community College on Tuesday, September 5th at 7pm.
