North Branch, NJ - RVCC's Women's Volleyball team won their second game of the season on Thursday night with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Nittany Lions from PSU-Lehigh Valley. After being up 23-22 in the first set the Lions would lose 4 out of the next 5 points to drop the first set 24-26. Although the Lions from RVCC were able to win the next three sets, they made plenty of mistakes along the way. The team totaled 29 hitting errors and 10 service errors on the night, effectively providing PSU-LV nearly 50% of their total points won on the night. Sophomore, Madison Cobb was too much for the visiting team to handle offensively as she finished with a team and season high 15 kills. Fellow sophomore Danna Gaitan also registered double digit kills with 10 on the night. Freshmen Dennicy Mota (8 kills), Courtney Bordonaro (7 kills) and Jocelyn Gross (4 kills) were all very effective for the Lions as well. Bordonaro also tied for a defensive team high with fellow freshman, Avalyn Stayskal, racking up 8 digs on the night. Again, it was Skylee Ohler that ran the Lions offense to the tune of a season high 31 assists.
The Lions now sit at 2-5 on the season and return to action on Saturday at 11 AM as they host the Jersey Blues from Brookdale Community College.
