Lions Beat Runners On Sophomore Night

North Branch, NJ – The RVCC Lions hosted the Roadrunners of RCSJ-Gloucester on Monday night for the team's Sophomore Night. The Lions would go on to beat the visiting Roadrunners 3-0.

Starting for the Lions were Sophomores: Kelly Delaney, Rachel Hatto, Alanna Da Cunha, Reagan Mooney, Ariele Acevedo and Shani Vasquez. Delaney and Hatto had spectacular nights at the service line recording 12 and 7 service aces respectively. Da Cunha hit a perfect 1.0% on the night registering 6 kills in her 6 attempts. Delaney also had 6 kills on 8 attempts with no errors while Reagan Mooney led the team with 22 assists. The backrow tandem of Kelly Delaney and Rachel Hatto was solid on the defensive end as the two combined for over 20 digs on the night. Delaney led the team with 18 and Hatto finished with 5. Starting backrow sophomores Ariele Acevedo and Shani Vasquez turned in great performances for the Lions. Acevedo had 1 assist and 1 dig and Vasquez finished with 4 digs.

With the win the Lions improve to 23-4 and will look to extend their win total when they travel to Middlesex College on Wednesday night at 6 PM.
