Volleyball Advances to take on Northampton in Region XIX/District Championship Game

North Branch, NJ - After defeating Atlantic Cape Community College 3-0 on Tuesday night the Lions have advanced to the Region XIX/Distrcit Championship game on Saturday 10/29 against Northampton Community College. The Lions topped Atlantic Cape for the third time this year in straight sets behind Olivia Sims' team high 11 kills and Bri Rojas' team high 12 digs. Freshman, Kelly Delaney was second on the team with 7 kills while Brittany Jensen and Jaiden English added 5 each, and Alanna Da Cunha finished with 3. Setter, Izabela Bar dished out 28 assists and gathered 10 digs for her third double double on the year. The Lions' defense was strong all night long as Sims added to her RVCC block total with 5 solo blocks. The Lions never trailed in the first two sets, but found themselves down early in the third. Strong serving from Rachel Hatto and Jaiden English helped the Lions erase the deficit and they never trailed again after tying the score at 7-7. Hatto finished with 4 aces and English had a team high 5.

Raritan Valley has earned themselves a spot in the Championship game for the 3rd straight season and boasts a 28-4 record. The Lions take on a 17-1 Northampton team that looks to restore their place atop Region XIX. The game time is set for 12 PM, Saturday at Northampton.
