Lions Sweep Bucs and Runners In GSAC Play

 

North Branch, NJ - The women's volleyball team hosted Atlantic Cape Community College on Tuesday night at 6 PM. This game was a rematch of the 4 set Region XIX Final last year that the Lions won to clinch their ticket to the National Tournament. Raritan Valley was able to close this game out in three sets as Sophomores Olivia Sims and Brittany Jensen each had 10 kills on the night. Libero Bri Rojas and freshman outside hitter Kelly Delaney were key to the Lions strong defense as they gathered up 14 and 13 digs repsectively. Delaney also added 5 services aces on the night.

Exactly 24 hours later the Lions traveled down to Sewell, New Jersey to take on the Roadrunners of RCSJ-Gloucester. The Lions were again able to win in straight sets. Sims registered 10 kills on the night and Delaney added a team high 6 service aces, while Jaiden English contributed with 5 service aces of her own. Izabela Bar dished out 26 assists, just one night after she had 27 in the win over Atlantic Cape. Freshman, Rachel Hatto led the way with 8 digs. A strong core of freshmen saw game time for the Lions in this contest as Marline Corcino (4 digs), Melany gomez (2 digs), and Shani Vasquez (1 dig) all played a huge role on the defensive side. 

The Lions travel to Harrisburg on Sat to play the Hawks at 11 and then the Bears from Harcum at 1 PM.
