Softball Opens 2022 Season with Split Against Lehigh Carbon

North Branch, NJ - The RVCC Lions split their double header with Lehigh Carbon for their home opener to kick of the 2022 season. The Lions took a tough 19-0 loss in game one, but the bright spot of the game was Freshman Olivia Sims' 15 strikeouts. Sophomores Jillian Sims and Amanda Monda led the way at the plate in game one collecting a hit a piece.

 
The Lions came back swinging in game two, taking an early lead and keeping the pressure on. J. Sims kicked the game off with a solo home run, followed later by a grand slam by freshman Olivia Mele. Monda and Maura Yavornotzki each had a double and Shea Solano, Shannon Russo, and J. Sims all collected an RBI in the game. J. Sims took home the win for the Lions giving up just one run and striking out six in 5 innings of work.
 

The Lions are back in action again on March 26th as they travel to Northampton for a doubleheader with the first game kicking off at noon.
