Spies 2nd Place Among Junior College Runners at Ramapo Invitational

Mahwah, NJ--The RVCC cross country team participated in the Ramapo Invitational on Friday, September 1st. The Lions men's cross country team finished sixth place out of ten overall, and was the top junior college team.

In the 5000 meter run, they finished with an average time of 18:33. Sophomore Robert Spies led the way for the Lions as he finished with a time of 17:36. He was good for 28th place out of 92 runners, and was second place among all junior college participants. Spies picked up right where he left off, as last year he was an NJCAA DIII All-American and competed in the National Championships. Sophomore Jake Thoden finished in 41st place with a time of 18:03. Freshman Frankie Arevalo took 46th place with a time of 18:36, and freshman Luis Monterosso finished in 54th with a time of 18:59. Sophomore Collin Diedhiou placed 64th with a time of 19:53. On the women's side, freshman Tessa Senel finished in 56th place with a time of 24:27.

Next up for the Lions is the Harrisburg Area Community College invitational on Saturday, September 23rd at 11:00am.
