Newark, NJ-- On Saturday, October 8th the RVCC cross country team participated in the NJIT invitational. Running in the men's 8k race was freshmen Robert Spies and Collin Diedhiou. Spies once again had a solid race, as he finished in 12th place with a time of 27:23. Diedhiou came in 41st place and finished with a time of 28:47. There were 143 participants, and the only junior college runner that finished ahead of Spies was Mark Corrigan from Delaware Technical Community College, who finished in 1st place overall. 

From the women's side, freshmen Diana Jimenez, Tanya Dean, and Brianna Higgins participated in the 5k race. Jimenez finished in 96th with a time of 23:30. Dean finished in 132nd with a time of 26:09, and Higgins finished in 135th with a time of 26:22. 

The next race for the Lions is the Region XIX championship meet on October 23rd.
