Lions Sweep Blue Colts

North Branch, NJ - The RVCC Volleyball team beat Middlesex County College on Saturday, September 24th 3-0 with set scores of 25-7, 25-14, and 25-17. The Lions improved to 7-2 on the year with the victory while the Blue Colts droped to 2-2.

RVCC came out strong in the first set behind Tess Rogovin's serving. The setter gave the Lions a 7-1 cushion before Middlesex earned back the ball. Rogovin set her season high with 30 assists on the day. The Lions have preyed on teams that can't handle strong serves, and Saturday was no different. The Lions had 20 service aces on the night and were led by Sophomore Rosemarie Perna's 6 aces. Freshmen Molly Vander Horn and Hannah Chiswick each had 5 service aces while Freshman Xaviera Wilson had 3 service aces of her own. Chiswick again led the team in kills with 13 on the day. Both middle blockers weren't far off the pace as Sophomore Bryahna Shaw notched 7 kills and Freshman Zaloni Johnson had 9. All three hitters were exceptionally efficient on the day as Chiswick hit .500 while Shaw and Johnson had blistering percentages of .800 and .875 respectively.

RVCC will travel down to Rowan College of South Jersey at Gloucester County on Tuesday September 17th for a 6 P.M. start time. The Lions beat the Road Runners a week ago in a non-conference match up 3-1.
