Women's Soccer Beats Manor College

North Branch, NJ - On Saturday, October 5th the Women's Soccer Team took on the Blue Jays of Manor College.

The Lions were looking to get back on track and win their second home game of the season.

Coach Pennetti was asked before the game "What was his impression of the season so far?" and he replied. "I'm quite pleased with our players' effort, hardwork and team spirit. We are young team in a rebuilding program, if not for the fact that we got hit by the injury bug in our final two games the outcomes could've been different. In both games injuries depleted our roster and we ended up playing both games a player or two down in the second half of each match. Today we have a full team and we look forward to come out and attack very early."

And that's just what the Lions did from the opening whistle. RVCC came out and attacked and kept attacking throughout the game and started scoring early on. Precisely one minute and thirty five seconds into the match a beautiful passing combination lead to an assist by Johanna Sailema with Caitlin Morris opening the scoring with a nice slotted shot for the Lions' first goal. At the eight minute and sixteen second time of the first half another beautiful combination from an assist pass by Jordyn Wright Led to Caitlin Morris' second goal of the afternoon. From this moment on the Lions' strong constant attack put pressure on Manor's defense. Over the span of the next nine minutes the Lions were able to score 3 more goals from, Lauren Iverson, Sydney Solimani and Jordyn Wright.

By the time the first half closed the Lions were successfully in front 7 to 0. The second half of the match the Lions controlled the tempo and maintained the majority of the possession. The lions were able to score 2 more goals in the second half and finished the match with a 9 to 0 victory. With Maria Arevalo in net for the Lions, they were able to earn their second shut out of the year and raised their record to two wins and five losses on the season.

Up Next for the Lions will be a trip to County College of Morris on Tuesday, October 8th for 4 PM match.
