Women's Soccer Defeats Bergen

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC women's soccer team defeated Bergen Community College Tuesday by a final score of 6-0. The Lions got on the board early, and they did not look back as they cruised to victory.

Freshman midfielder Mariana Munoz struck first for RVCC. 10 minutes into the game, she beat the Bergen goalkeeper from eight feet out to make it 1-0. Scoring next was freshman midfielder Nataly Brito, as she fired off a rocket shot that wound up in the back of the net. In the 23rd minute, freshman midfielder Alyssa Silva took a nice pass from Munoz and punched it in to extend the RVCC lead to 3-0. Six minutes later freshman defender Alisson Vargas scored with an assist from freshman forward Amanda Hansen, and Brito wound up scoring two more goals before halftime to get the hat trick, and the Lions were able to hold the 6-0 lead in the second half.

This marks the first victory for the RVCC women's soccer team this season, and they are now 1-1. Next up is another home game on Thursday, September 29th against Montgomery County Community College beginning at 3:30pm.
