Lions Finish Week 1-2

Carney's Point, NJ - The Lions found themselves back in the win column on Saturday afternoon after two straight losses. The Lions beat Region XIX opponent Salem Community College on the road 71-41. Lucia Noin led the way for the Lions with 24 points and 9 boards while Judith Vila registered a season high 16 points. Julia Fontanillo led the team with 10 rebounds and tied with Noin for a team high 5 assists. The Lions were dominant on the boards all afternoon. Kerine Thomas and Freya Rauschenfels both grabbed 8 boards, with 5 of them coming on the offensive side for Rauschenfels.

Two nights before the Lions suffered a 67-59 setback to the Generals of Sullivan County. Raritan Valley narrowly beat Sullivan in the first semester in Loch Sheldrake, but couldn't keep the Generals at bay this time around.

On Tuesday night the Lions had another rematch, this time against Monroe College. The Lions were held to their lowest scoring output of the season with only Lucia Noin (18) and Vega Gil (11) getting into double figures. The team was outrebounded 30-19 on the night which allowed for Monroe to control the pace of the game.

The Lions have 5 games left in the regular season, four of which are at home. The Lions home stand starts this week as they host the Owls from Union County College this Tuesday at 5 P.M.
