Lions Finish Week 3-0

North Branch, NJ – With their win Saturday afternoon, the RVCC Women's Basketball team finished the week a perfect 3-0. The Lions defeated Mercer County College Tuesday 79-59, Ocean County College on Thursday 93-24, and Bucks County Community College 94-28.

The Lions traveled down to Ocean County College on Thursday night to take on the Vikings. RVCC came out strong from the tip and built a 26-0 lead before surrendering a point to the host team. After leading 28-4 the game was clearly out of reach and the Lions got everyone involved. All 12 players scored at least one bucket and three players ended up in double figures. Olivia Nilsen scored a game high twenty one, Ali McGrath finished with twelve, and Adrienne Amey chipped in seventeen. Amey also led the team with 6 steals to compliment her 3 dimes and 3 boards. Sophomore Moira Phillips filled up the stat sheet and flirted with a double double as she finished the night with 9 points, 8 boards, 6 steals, and 4 assists. Fellow Sophomore Claudia Edralin helped Phillips on the boards as she pulled down seven to go with her four points.

On Saturday, January 26th the Lions hosted the Centurions from Bucks County Community College. Once again the Lions were led by Sophomore Olivia Nilsen who poured in a season high 33 as she connected on 5 attempts from downtown. Adrienne Amey and Morenike Akinrefon were the two other Lions in double figures as they finished with 14 and 12 points respectively. Dyliany De Leon and Ali McGrath played key reserve minutes for the Lions as De Leon finished with 8 points and McGrath had 9. McGrath has been a consistent scorer for the Lions all season long, and she has been doing so with great efficiency. The freshman from Dunellen High School is the only non-starter to rank among the top 4 for the Lions in scoring on the season. De Leon currently sits at 6th.

The Lions are back in action Tuesday January 29th as they host the Owls from Union County College. The Owls currently sit at #1 in Region XIX rankings. The Lions fell to them by 20 earlier in the year.
