Women's Basketball Win Against Mercer

North Branch, NJ – On Saturday February 10th the RVCC Women's Basketball Team defeated Mercer County Community College by a final score of 107-54. Although the Lions allowed Mercer to score 20 in the first quarter they set the tone for the pace of the game by scoring 29 of their own. RVCC would hold Mercer to 13 points or under in each of the remaining three quarters while the Lions scored over 20 in each frame.

Olivia Nilsen led four Lions in double figures by knocking down 6 three point attempts en route to a career high 34 points. Nilsen got it done in all facets on the game as she finished with 9 boards, 6 assists, and 5 steals as well. Ashley Hunt finished one assist shy of a double double for the second game in a row as she netted 20 points to compliment her 9 dimes and 6 rebounds. Turning in one of her most efficient performances of the year Megan Mack tallied 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting including 3 of 6 from downtown. Moira Phillips controlled the boards once again for the Lions as she finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The Lions are starting to click at the right time offensively as they look to make a run in the Region XIX playoffs. Last semester the Lions barely beat Mercer by a final score of 73-67, their 107 points on Saturday is their highest season total to date. Next up for the Lions is an away contest at Essex County College on Tuesday February 13th with the tip off scheduled for 5 P.M.
