Women's Basketball Win Against Del Tech

North Branch, NJ – On Thursday Februrary 8th the RVCC Women's Basketball team defeated Delaware Tech by a final score of 77-65. The Lions held their Sophomore night event at halftime of the game and the team came out ready to play from the tip off. The Lions jumped out to an early 33-12 lead after the first quarter only to see that lead diminish to 40-30 at halftime. RVCC has been struggling in the third quarter of their games throughout the season, but they were able to outscore Del Tech 23-14 in the third stanza to put the game away.

Leading the way for the Lions was sophomore guard Ashley Hunt who finished with a team high 24 points and 9 assists. Sophomore guard Megan Mack was one point away from a double double as she pulled down a season best 10 boards to go along with her 9 points. Olivia Nilsen and Adrienne Amey were the other Lions to finish in double figures as they registered 15 and 14 points respectively. Freshman forward Moira Phillips was solid for the Lions as usual turning in an 8 point 7 rebound performance.

Hunt, Mack, and sophomore Mariana Munoz were honored at halftime for their contributions to the RVCC Women's Basketball Program. The trio came in as Freshman in 2016 and took the reins of a program that had won only a single game the year prior. In their first season they finished 8-14 and have made even bigger strides this year as the Lions now sit at 19-7. The RVCC athletic family would like to thank all three of these sophomores for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to making RVCC Women's Basketball what it is today!
