Women's Basketball Suffer Loss to Lackawanna

Tuesday, January 23rd 2018, North Branch, NJ – The RVCC Women's Basketball Team suffered their second straight loss on Tuesday night falling to Lackawanna College by a final score of 89-68. This was the second game in a row the Lions were able to compete for three quarters, but couldn't find a way to battle for forty minutes. The Lions got off to a very hot start going into halftime with a 45-41 lead. Typically it's the fourth quarter that dooms that Lions, but this time it was the third quarter the Lions couldn't overcome. The Falcons outscored the Lions  31-6 in the third quarter and built a lead that RVCC couldn't bounce back from. The Lions would go on to play the Falcons even in the fourth quarter, but that wasn't enough to surmount the huge lead Lackawanna took in the third.

Four Lions scored in double figures on Tuesday night. Leading the way was Freshman guard Olivia Nilsen who finished with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Nilsen has been stellar for the Lions all season long, but has really picked it up this second semester as she's averaging 20.6 ppg over the 5 game span. Ashley Hunt, Adrienne Amey, and Claudia Edralin were the other Lions to finish with double figure scoring. Hunt had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists, Amey finished with 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Edralin finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Freshman forward Moira Phillips was one point shy of a double double as she finished with 9 points and 10 boards. The Lions will look to bounce back on Thursday night when they take on Sussex County College at home for a 5 P.M. tip off.
