Women's Basketball Start Season 3-0

North Branch, NJ - On Thursday, November 16th the RVCC Women's Basketball team defeated Ocean County College by a final score of 89-27 to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Lions got off to an early lead thanks to the hot shooting of Sophomore guard Megan Mack and Freshman guard Olivia Nilsen. Mack connected on all 3 of her attempts from downtown while Nilsen hit 2 of her own to give the Lions a 29-8 advantage after the first 10 minutes. Going into the half the Lions were up 52-17 and were able to maintain the lead throughout the entire game to come out with the victory.
Nilsen and Mack lead the way with 17 and 15 points each, respectively. However, it was the Lions reserves that were instrumental in sealing the win for the home team. Rachel Knappenberger played a great all-around game as she contributed 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals.  Freshman guard Summer Sheppard balanced the offense with 12 points and 4 steals. Fellow freshman forward Nyah Morales was a monster on the boards as she totaled 16 rebounds to go along with her 8 points.
The Lions will look to improve to 4-0 this Saturday, November 18th at 12 P.M. in a matchup against Bucks County Community College.
