Women's Basketball Tops Montgomery

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC women's basketball team picked up their first victory of the season Saturday when they defeated Montgomery County Community College 64-42. The Lions jumped out to a 16-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Montgomery battled back to cut the RVCC lead down to 36-30 at halftime, however the Lions controlled the second half by a score of 28-12.

Freshman guard Megan Mack led the scoring with24 points. Mack was zoned in from downtown, as she hit 6-12 from three point range. Freshman forward Ashley Hunt added 23 points, five rebounds and four steals. The boards were controlled by sophomore forward Courtney Price, as she totalled 11 rebounds. Mack added eight rebounds and six assists, and sophomore guard Lauren Ferretti was a major factor on the defensive end with eight steals. 

The Lions played efficient defense as they forced 38 Montgomery turnovers, and spread the ball around as they totaled 20 assists on 25 field goals.

With the win RVCC improves to 1-1, and next up is a home game against Manor College Tuesday, November 15th at 5pm.
