Softball Falls Short to Brookdale

Lincroft, NJ- On Wednesday, April 18th the RVCC Softball team traveled to Brookdale Community College. The Lions went 0-2 for the day with scores of 11-1 and 11-2.

In game one Brookdale got on the board first scoring a run in the 1st inning, going into the 3rd inning the score remained 1-0. Freshman Claudia Edralin started the Lions off with a base hit followed by a stolen base. With Edralin on second base next up to bat sophomore Amya McMillan grounded out but advanced the runner to third base. Up to bat next freshman Sophia Leone earned herself a base hit and RBI to tie up the score top of the third 1-1. However, the Jersey Blues got on the board the remining 3 innings leaving the Lions scoreless the rest of the way and unable to pull off the victory. The Lions had a total of 7 hits, leading the way were Edralin and Leone with 2 hits each.

 

In game two the Jersey Blues got off to a quick lead scoring four in the 1st and two in the 2nd. Top of the 3rd inning the Lions got on the board, Edralin started it off with a base hit, and a overthrow to first advanced her to second. McMillan grounded out moving the runner to third, and Leone grounded out scoring the RBI. The Lions scored once more in the 5th inning by an RBI from McMillan hitting in freshman Brianna Laface from third base.

 

Next up for the Lions is their last home game and a Region XIX matchup vs Morris this Friday @ 3 and 5!
