Softball Loses to Lackawanna

Dunmore, PA- On Thursday, April 12th the RVCC Softball team traveled to Lackawanna College for a Region XIX matchup. The Lions went 0-2 for the day with scores of 11-3 and 20-1.

In game one, Freshman Claudia Edralin started the Lions off with a base hit and sophmore Amya McMillian kept the momentum going with another base hit. With runners on 1st and 2nd  both steal on a wild pitch advancing them to 2nd and 3rd. Sophmore Jamie Cuzzocrea up next to the plate, she earned herself a base hit and a RBI giving the Lions a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, however, allowing the Falcons to score 3 runs giving them the lead to end the first inning. In the second inning Freshman Sophia Leone earned herself a double and sophomore Kaycie Sconda with a base hit RBI making the score 2-3 bottom second inning. The Lions only scored once more in the 4th inning, sophmore Chessie Tomari had a base hit then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Edralin up to bat and she earned herself another base hit advancing Tomari to third. With runners on first and third Edralin stole and beat the throw allowing Tomari to score. 

Overall the Lions played a solid first game with 8 hits and 3 runs. Leading the way with two hits and one run each Edralin and Leone, both have been constant benefactors for this 2018 Lions team.

In game two, the Lions got on the board first again! Edralin started it off with a base hit followed by a steal. McMillian grounded out but advanced the runner to third and sophomore Taylor Raphael with a base hit earning her 5th RBI of the season and Edralins 5th run of the season. However the Lions stuggled the rest of the way to get on the board and had a scoreless rest of the game while the Falcons got on the board every inning.

Next up for the RVCC Softball team is a home game this Saturday vs Del Tech @ 1 and 3!
