Softball Season Opener

North Branch, NJ- On Tuesday, March 27th the RVCC softball team had their season opener vs Mercer County Community College. The Lions unfortunately fell short both games, final scores 18-1 and 13-1.

In game one, RVCC was off to a strong start and had a scoreless first inning. The Lions ultimately struggled to get on the board scoring their first and only run in the 4th inning. Sophomore Chessie Tomari hit a perfect line drive in the outfield gap to earn an RBI double while sophomore Kaycie Sconda scored the run from second base.

In game two, Mercer jumped out to an early lead scoring 10 runs the first inning. The Lions only allowed 3 runs the remaining 4 innings but were unable to make up for the errors in the first inning. Sophomore Taylor Raphael sent one deep outfield earning an RBI single while sophomore Amya McMillian scored from second base.

The RVCC softball team is now 0-2 on the season and have their home opener this Monday, April 2nd for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30PM vs Orange Country Community College.
