Lions Fall to Brookdale

Boundbrook, NJ-Raritan Valley Men's Soccer team played host yesterday to Brookdale Community College. The contest had significant playoff implications as the home side tried to remian in line for a Region XIX postseason berth.  The Lions fought hard throughout the 2-1 loss.   

 

After a scoreless first half, RVCC got on the scoreboard first as Alex Cervantes converted a well played service from Owen Faherty at the 54 minute mark. The goal was Cervantes' 4th goal on the season. The lead was short lived. Less than two minutes later, Dane Calhoun from Brookdale controlled a loose ball in the box and scored with a shot to the lower left corner of the Lion's goal. In the 77th minute, Brookdale was able to convert a free kick as Noah Mendez flicked the ball over the outstretched arms of keeper Gregg Blassneck.  

 

Blassneck made 3 saves on the day, and the Lions managed 6 shots on the day with Cervantes leading the way with 3 shots on the day. 

 

RVCC continues it's season ending home stand with a Region XIX contest against Montgomery County Community College on Thursday at 3:30 PM.
