RVCC 5 Bergen 3

North Branch, NJ—RVCC men's soccer defeat Bergen Community College 5-3 on Tuesday.

Starting off strong freshman forward Salman Ghiya scored at 1:36 putting the Lions on the board early. Going into the half the score remained 1-0. After the half Bergen scored to tie the game, but freshman forward Chris Rodriguez responded with two back to back goals, the first one was assisted by sophomore wing Brian Johnson and the second unassisted making the score 3-1. With a back and forth game and only 5 minutes left Bergen scored two back to back goals to tie the game back up 3-3 with two minutes left on the clock. However, sophomore wing Chukwumeka Okoye was not finished yet, scoring at 86:30 to put the lions back on top, and to secure the win freshman forward Christian Barrera-Lopez scored at 88:14 assisted by Okoye.

Freshman goalkeeper Matthew Pozo had eight saves, one being a beautiful penalty kick block and on offense the lions finished with seven shots on goal.

Next up for RVCC is a home game against Cumberland County College Saturday, September 7th @1:30.
