Men's Soccer Falls to Middlesex

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC men's soccer team lost a close, hard fought game against Middlesex County College Tuesday by a score of 4-3.

Scoring first was RVCC, as in the 35th minute sophomore midfielder Christian Sevilla bombed a long kick from almost midfield and the Middlesex keeper was unable to control it and it wound up in the back of the net. The Lions extended the lead to 2-0 when freshman forward Chukwuemeka Okoye ripped a great cross the length of the field to set up freshman forward Danny Santana who punched it in to make it 2-0.

Middlesex countered in the 31st minute when Idrassa Kamara converted on a header. The Colts followed up 12 minutes later when Mused Mohamed punched it in from right outside of the box. Mohamed scored again for the Colts in the start of the second half to make it 3-2 Colts, then Chiekn Ndiaye extended the lead to 4-2.

The Lions did not give up, as Okoye took a nice pass from freshman midfielder Jared Hernandez and ripped off a rocket shot that hit the top left post and wound up in the back of the net. However, they were unable to get the equalizer and Middlesex came out on top 4-3. For RVCC, freshman goalkeeper Alex Meny was again solid in net as he picked up nine saves.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-2 on the young season. Next up is an away game at Ocean County College on Thursday the 15th.
