Golden Lions beat HACC, 4-1

North Branch, NJ -- The Golden Lions used a fast start to beat non-conference Harrisburg Area Community College, 4-1.  Kicking off on a cold, rainy morning, Raul Otayza put RVCC in the lead only 2 minutes into the game off a feed from Jhaliyl Stewart.  Only 28 seconds later, HACC equalized on a goalkeeping error.  Ryan Lauder misplayed a pass out of the back, Kyle Schory easily collected the loose ball and squared to Logan Davis who finished from inside the 6 yard box to tie the score at 1-1.  Jhaliyl.Stewart got his long-awaited first goal, blasting a shot past HACC's keeper in the 4th minute to quickly restore the Golden Lion's lead.  Erick Hernandez netted his team leading 6th goal off another Jhaliyl Stewart assist before Facundo Galante scored his first college goal in the 33rd minute to round out the scoring.

      After a solid opening 45 minutes, the Golden Lions stumbled through a lackluster 2nd half, repeatedly losing possession and their discipline while unable to build on their lead.  Ryan Hamblin made 1 save during the second half, Ryan Lauder earned his first career win.  Jhaliyl Stewart had RVCC's biggest offensive output of the season recording a goal and 2 assists, Erick Hernandez notched a goal and an assist.

      RVCC (3-6-2 overall) finishes the 2014 home season on October 14th when they host GSAC rival Union County College, kickoff is 3:30pm.  The final game of the season is October 16th, the Lions travel to Lehigh-Carbon CC on October 16th in search of their first road win in over 2 years.
