Lions Earn Road Win Over Vikings

North Branch, NJ - The RVCC Men's Basketball team traveled down to Mercer County Community College on Tuesday November 26, 2019 for a GSAC and Region 19 game.  The Lions struggled out of the gate and shot 34% from the field in the first half and found themselves down by 10 at the half.  RVCC did not let their slow start deter their efforts and they came out firing in the second half and immediately cut Mercer's lead in half within the first couple minutes of play.  The Lions exploded for 51 second half points and were able to secure a 76-73 victory over the home Vikings.  A tight game throughout the second half which saw 20 different lead changes and 13 ties, but the Lions were able to get crucial stops down the stretch to claim the win.  RVCC was led by Rick'Keem Mixson who finished with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.  Freshman Soloman Smith added a career high 21 points and Sophomore Kevin Scanlan chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds.  The Lions head into Thanksgiving break with a 6-3 overall record and 5-0 in Region 19 play.  They return to action on Saturday December 7, verse Region 19 foe Manor College.
