RVCC Falls to Burlington in Semifinals

Randolph, NJ-- The RVCC men's basketball team was defeated in the Region XIX semifinals by Rowan College at Burlington County Saturday 81-78. In the first half, Burlington jumped out to a 46-32 lead. With one minute remaining, the Lions were able to get three buckets to cut the lead to 46-38 at halftime. In the second half, the Lions were trailing 56-43, however clawed their way back into the game. Sophomore guard Zaire Robinson hit his second three pointer in a row with five minutes remaining to trim the deficit to 73-70. The Lions would refuse to go away in the final five minutes, and with five seconds remaining Burlington up 81-78 missed a free throw. The Lions grabbed the rebound, however the last second three point heave did not fall. 

Leading the scoring once again for RVCC was freshman guard Kenyan Goodson with 26 points. He went 4-7 from the three point line, and a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line. Freshman forward Ron Washington added 15 points on 7-11 shooting from the field and five rebounds. Freshman guard Kevin Saylor added 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists, and Zaire Robinson scored 10 points. Sophomore forward Jawan Robinson had a team-high eight rebounds. 

This marked the fourth consecutive trip to the Region XIX playoffs for the Lions under head coach Kevin Ryan.
