Lions Top Orange On Sophomore Night

North Branch, NJ-The RVCC men's basketball team defeated Orange County Community College 91-73 Tuesday night. RVCC held sophomore night before the game, and recognized Zaire Robinson, Sam Pierre, Jayce Beasley, and Jawan Robinson for their contributions to the program the last two seasons. 

During the game, the Lions were trailing 19-18 with 18 minutes remaining when they went on a 17-4 run capped off by back to back three pointers from freshmen guards Kevin Saylor and Kenyan Goodson to make it a 35-23 RVCC lead. In the second half, RVCC was able to extend their lead to 72-49 after a 15-3 run. The Lions were able to control the rest of the game and hold onto the victory. 

The sophomores shined for the Lions. Leading the scoring was Pierre who had 20 points on an efficient 8-12 shooting from the field. Zaire Robinson added 18 points, shot 14-16 from the free throw line, and tallied 10 assists. Beasley scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, and Jawan Robinson had a team high ten rebounds. Freshman forward Ron Washington scored 12 points and went 5-5 from the field, and Saylor chipped in 12 points and five assists. 

With the win the Lions improve to 17-9, and next up is the regular season finale at Lackawanna College on Tuesday, February 28th at 7pm.
