RVCC Defeats Sussex

Newton, NJ-- The RVCC men's basketball team defeated Sussex County Community College Tuesday night by a final score of 94-38. The Lions led from the start of the game as they jumped out to 20-4 lead in the first six minutes. They then took a 51-27 lead going into halftime, and were able to cruise to victory. 

Six Lions finished scoring in double figures, and leading the way was sophomore forward Jayce Beasley with 21 points. Beasley went 9-12 from the field, and added eight rebounds. Four different Lions finished with 13 points, sophomore guard Zaire Robinson, freshman forward Ron Washington, sophomore forward Sam Pierre, and freshman guard Levar Johnson. Washington added 13 rebounds and seven assists, Johnson added six rebounds, and freshman guard Kevin Saylor tallied 11 points and six assists. 

The Lions shot an effective 57% from the field (39-68) and distributed the basketball as they finished with 29 assists. 

With the win RVCC improves to 14-7, and next up is an away game at Lackawanna College on Thursday, February 9th at 7pm.
