Lions Take Down Valley Forge in OT

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC men's basketball team defeated Valley Forge Military College Saturday in overtime by a final score of 72-66.

Valley Forge controlled the first half and took a 33-26 lead into the locker room as the Lions struggled to generate offense. The second half was a back and forth battle, and with seven minutes remaining Valley Forge held onto a 50-41 lead. After Valley Forge hit two free throws with four and a half minutes remaining, the Lions roared back with a 16-5 run. Sophomore guard Zaire Robinson came up clutch for RVCC as he hit four key three pointers down the stretch. He hit a three to give the Lions their first lead of the game, a slim 60-59 margin 1:19 left. The Lions hit two free throws to make it a 64-61 lead, however Valley Forge drilled a clutch three to send it into overtime. RVCC was able to take over in overtime, as they outscored Valley Forge 8-2 to seal the win.

Robinson led the scoring for the Lions as he scored 25 points and went 5-9 from three point land. Freshman guard Kenyan Goodson scored 16 points and added five rebounds, and freshman forward Ron Washington scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds. 

With the win the Lions now have won six in a row, and they improve to 12-5. Next up is an away game at Camden County College on Tuesday, January 31st at 6pm.
