RVCC Tops Luzerne

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC men's basketball team picked up a win against Luzerne County Community College Thursday night by a final score of 89-71. The game was tied up 12-12 at the 13 minute mark when the Lions went on an 18-0 run keyed by tough defense and fast break offense. They were able to control the rest of the first half as they took a 50-30 lead into the locker room, and held on in the second half to clinch the victory.

Leading the scoring was sophomore forward Jawan Robinson with 17 points off of the bench. Robinson was very efficient offensively as he did not miss a shot, going 7-7 from the field and 3-3 from the free throw line. Freshman guard Kevin Saylor scored 15 points on 6-10 shooting, and freshman forward Ron Washington scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds. Freshman guard Kenyan Goodson scored 12 points, added nine rebounds and five assists. Sophomore forward Sam Pierre chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds, and sophomore guard Zaire Robinson added 14 points.

The Lions outscored Luzerne 68-36 in the paint, and 28-16 on the fast break. With the win the Lions now have won five straight to improve to 11-5. Next up is a home game Saturday, January 28th against Valley Forge Military College at 2pm.
