Men's Basketball Beats Morris

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC men's basketball team picked up the win against County College of Morris Tuesday night by a final score of 92-78. The first half was a close, back and forth contest as Morris took a 40-38 lead into the locker room. With 9:30 left in the second half RVCC held a slim 63-62 lead, however the Lions went on a 16-0 run to extend the lead to 79-62 with 5:19 remaining, and were able to hang on for the 14 point victory. 

Leading the scoring was freshman guard Kenyan Goodson 21 points. Goodson made his first career start, and played efficient basketball as he added nine assists and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Zaire Robinson scored 17 points and added nine rebounds and seven assists. Freshman forward Ron Washington had another double double with 15 points and 16 rebounds, and sophomore forward Sam Pierre scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Pierre went 8-11 from the field. Freshman guard Kevin Saylor scored 13 points, and all five RVCC starters finished scoring in double figures. 

The Lions controlled the glass as they outrebounded Morris 51-36, and controlled the points in the paint by a margin of 66-38. 

With the win the Lions improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Region XIX play. Next up is an away game Thursday, December 1st against Essex County College.
