Men's Basketball Downs Montgomery

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC men's basketball team took the home opener Saturday as they defeated Montgomery County Community College 110-87. The Lions came out fast as they jumped out to a 35-20 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The RVCC offense exploded in the rest of the first half, as they took a 64-45 lead into the locker room, and did not let up to finish with the 23 point victory. 

Freshman guard Kevin Saylor led the RVCC scoring with 31 points on 11-19 shooting. Adding 23 points and seven rebounds was sophomore guard Zaire Robinson. Sophomore forward Sam Pierre played efficiently, as he scored 18 points on 9-10 shooting along with six rebounds and two blocks. Freshman forward Ronald Washington led the Lions in rebounds with nine and added 14 points. Coming off of the bench was freshman guard Kenyan Goodson who added 12 points and six assists. 

The Lions finished shooting 50% from the field as they went 43-86, and won the points in the paint by a 74-38 margin. 

With the win the Lions improve to 2-0. Next up is a home game Tuesday, November 15th against Manor College at 7pm.
