Men's Basketball Pulls Away From Mercer for the Win

North Branch-- The RVCC men's basketball team advanced to 3-2 on the season with a 74-59 win over Mercer County Community College Tuesday. The Golden Lions were trailing Mercer 52-50 with 7:54 left in the game, yet a 22-5 run allowed them to pull away with the win.

Leading the scoring for the Golden Lions was sophomore guard James Richardson with 25 points. Richardson also added six assists and three steals. Freshman guard Logan Santiago added 21, while sophomore forward Bridson Rivera scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and tallied five assists.

Freshman guard John Armstead led Mercer with 16 points, and freshman forward Kevin Avent scored 15. 

The Golden Lions outrebounded Mercer 40-30, and were again active on defense grabbing 11 steals.

Next up is another home game this Thursday the 19th at 7pm. against Ocean County College.
