Men's Basketball Grinds Out 83-78 Victory for First Win

Edison, NJ-- The RVCC men's basketball team held on for a 83-78 victory Tuesday against Middlesex County College. The Golen Lions jumped out to a 46-33 first half lead, however Middlesex battled back and the second half was a back and forth game.

Sophomore guard James Richardson led the scoring with 22 points and also added six assists. Sophomore guard Salman Hasan played well, scoring 14 points. Freshman forward Jawan Robinson was a factor, scoring 12 points and adding six rebounds. 

For Middlesex, sophomore guard Eugene Campbell led with 17 points, and sophomore center Berucche Archille added 15 and gathered 8 rebounds.

With under 30 seconds to play, the Golden Lions held the ball with a slim 79-78 lead. As the shot clock almost expired, Richardson connected on a clutch layup to extend the lead to 81-78. Middlesex got off a three pointer on the next possession, yet was off the mark and Hasan grabbed the rebound then got fouled. 

The Golden Lions converted from in close all game, as they led points in the paint by a score of 42-30. 

Next up is a home game this Thursday, November 12th against Sussex County Community College at 7 p.m.
