Lions Drop Out Of Region Game to Orange County

Middletown, NY - RVCC's Baseball team traveled acoss the border to take on Region XV opponent Orange County Community College. The Lions were down early, trailing the Colts 7-1 going into the fourth, but were able to get their offense going. Six RVCC runs in the top of the 4th tied up the game at 7 a piece, but the Lions would give 2 back in the bottom of the inning. RVCC managed one more attempt at a comeback when they scored 2 in the sixth, but eventually conceded 3 in the bottom half and weren't able to come back from that. Ian Smoke started on the mound and Matt Piro, Jared Rose, and Jason Cuba all took the ball for relief at some point throughout the day. Sophomores Joseph DeRosa and Ryan Galpin each had a double on the day with DeRosa going 2-4 and Galpin going 1-4. Freshman, Andrew Grasso, came up huge for the Lions on offense as he went 3-5 on the day and registered his first triple of the season. Jason Cuba, Sal Assante, Paul Hamilton, DeRosa and Galpin all had 2 RBI's for RVCC and Grasso contributed 1. 

The Lions will look to bounce back this Saturday as they travel to County College of Morris for a double header starting at noon in Randolph. The Lions currently sit at 3-8 overall and 1-1 in Region XIX play.
