Baseball Sweeps Monroe Mustangs

New Rochelle, NY - On Sunday March 17th the Lions traveled to Monroe College in The Bronx to take on the Mustangs. The Lions got their first two wins of the season as they swept the Mustangs in impressive fashion.

Matthew Piro took the mound for the first game and pitched his first complete game as a Lion. The Freshman from Jackson, NJ had four strikeouts on the way to a 6-2 victory. Jason Cuba, Sal Assante, and Paul Hamilton all had RBIs for the Lions. 

Ian Smoke had the ball in his hands for the second game and came away with the complete game victory 12-4. Smoke, a freshman from Bridgewater Raritan, registered a season high 6 K's on the day. Joe DeRosa went 3-3 with 3 RBI's and Paul Hamilton contributed 3 RBI's as well. 

The Lions improve to 2-4 on the season and host Luzerne County Community College this Thursday, 3/21/19. This will be the Lions' home opener with the first pitch at 3:30 P.M.
