Lions Fall Short Against Camden as Peterson Goes Deep Twice

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC baseball team fell in the final game of the season Thursday to Camden County College  by a final score of 13-12. After Camden took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Lions pushed two across in the bottom of the first. Freshman infielder Luis Cruz knocked in a run with an RBI triple, then freshman designated hitter Jack Peterson drove Cruz home with a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the third inning, Peterson hit a screaming line drive over the left field fence to cut the lead to 5-4. In the bottom of the fourth the Lions were trailing 9-4 when freshman infielder Andrew Pollara knocked in a run with an RBI double. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Peterson hit another two run home run. The next batter, Kendrick Morales was able to make it back to back home runs as he hit one that sailed over the left center field fence. The Lions were able to push two runs across in the ninth, however the comeback fell one run short.

Peterson finished the day going 2-3 with two home runs, five RBIs, and three runs scored. Pollara went 3-5 with a double and two RBIs, and sophomore outfielder Kevin Jessourian went 2-3 with two runs scored. Cruz went 1-3 with two walks, the triple and three runs scored.
