RVCC Splits Doubleheader With Sussex

Frankford Township, NJ-- The RVCC baseball team split the doubleheader with Sussex County Community College Monday. Game one Sussex took by a final score of 17-1, and the Lions took game two by a final score of 3-2. 

In game one, the Lion bats had seven hits. Freshmen Adalberto Colon Jr, Hector Coco, and Ryan Galpin each went 2-3. Freshman Kendrick Morales went 1-3 with a run scored. Freshman right handed pitcher Christofer Gonzalez got the start and went 5.1 innings and allowed six earned runs. Galpin pitched two thirds of an inning in relief and did not allow any hits. 

In game two, the Lions got on the board in the top of the first inning when freshman Jack Peterson hit a two run home run to left field. Heading into the top of the sixth the game was tied 2-2 and freshman shortstop Luis Cruz scored on an error. The Lions were able to hold onto the lead in the seventh. Freshman righty Trevor Sanchez was strong on the mound, as he went the full seven innings and allowed only two earned runs on four hits while striking out six.
